John Tuttle Andrews (
May 29 ,1803 -June 11 ,1894 ) was a U.S. Representative fromNew York .Born near
Schoharie Creek, New York , Andrews moved with his parents in 1813 to Reading, near Dundee, Yates County.He attended the district school and also was privately tutored.He taught school for several years.He engaged in mercantile pursuits in Irelandville and Watkins.He was in theJustice of the Peace and sheriff of Steuben County in 1836 and 1837.Andrews was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress (
March 4 ,1837 -March 3 ,1839 ).He was not a candidate for renomination in 1838. After his term in Congress retired from active business and settled inDundee, New York .He again engaged in mercantile pursuits, from 1866 until 1877, when he again retired from business pursuits to care for his personal estate.He died inDundee, New York ,June 11 ,1894 .He was interred in Hillside Cemetery,Dundee, New York .References
