John A. Searing

John Alexander Searing (May 14, 1805 - May 6, 1876) was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born in North Hempstead, New York, Searing completed preparatory studies. Sheriff of Queens County, New York from 1843 to 1846.He served as member of the State assembly in 1854.

Searing was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1857-March 3, 1859).He served as chairman of the Committee on Accounts (Thirty-fifth Congress).He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1858.He died in Mineola, New York, May 6, 1876.He was interred in Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead, New York.
