Henry G. Burleigh

Henry Gordon Burleigh (June 2, 1832 - August 10, 1900) was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born in Canaan, New Hampshire, Burleigh attended the common schools.He moved to New York in 1846 with his parents, who settled in Ticonderoga, Essex County.He engaged in the mining of iron ore and in the lumber, coal, and transportation business. Supervisor of the town of Ticonderoga in 1864 and 1865.He moved to Whitehall, Washington County, New York, in 1867.He served as member of the State assembly in 1876.He served as delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1880, 1884, 1888, 1892, and 1896.

Burleigh was elected as a Republican to the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1883-March 3, 1887).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1886 to the Fiftieth Congress.He died in Whitehall, New York, August 10, 1900.He was interred in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ticonderoga, New York.
