Paisley, Scotland , Craig Immigrated to the United States and settled inOrange County, New York , in 1790. Founded the town of Craigsville, where he built a paper mill, grist mill, and saw mill.Craig was elected as a Jacksonian Democratic-Republican to the Eighteenth Congress (
March 4 ,1823 -March 3 ,1825 ).Craig was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first Congress and served from
March 4 ,1829 , toJuly 12 ,1830 , when he resigned.He was appointed surveyor of the port of New York by President Jackson in 1830. United States Commissioner of Insolvency in 1832. Surveyor of customs in New York 1833-1839.He died inCraigsville, New York ,January 31 ,1842 .He was interred in a private cemetery on the Caldwell estate inBlooming Grove, New York .References
