Edward Swann

Edward Swann (March 10 1862 - September 19 1945) was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born near Madison, Florida, Swann attended the common schools and was graduated from the law department of Columbia College (now University), New York City, in 1886.He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in New York City.

Swann was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Amos J. Cummings and served from November 4 1902, to March 3 1903. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1902.

He resumed the practice of law in New York City.

Swann was elected judge of the court of general sessions, New York City, and served from January 1 1908, until his resignation in 1916.He served as district attorney for New York County from 1916 to 1922.He then retired from public and political activities.

He died in Sewalls Point, Jensen Beach, Florida, September 19 1945. He was interred in St. Peters Episcopal Cemetery, Fernandina, Florida.
