Chuck Jones and directed byAbe Levitow . It was the second of three space-age Tom and Jerry shorts to be released in the Chuck Jones era (along withO-Solar Meow andAdvance and Be Mechanized ), though taking a look at the MPAA code at the beginning of the cartoon would suggest that "Guided Mouse-ille (or Science on a Wet Afternoon)" was the "first" of the three cartoons to be produced. The cartoon was animated by Don Towsley, Tom Ray, Dick Thompson, Ben Washam, Ken Harris and Philip Roman, with music by Eugene Poddany and backgrounds by Thelma Witmer. The title is a pun on the term "Guided missile ."Plot
The camera zooms right towards a space-age facility as the title cards are shown. The year is shown to be 2565, in the 26th Century.
Jerry pushes levers on his control panel and an image of a wheel of cheese materializes on the screen. Jerry calls in robot-Jerry (which looks like a truncated yellow pencil) and gives him his mission. Robot-Jerry speeds through the hallways and ends up breaking an electric eye; this is Tom's signal for a "law-breaker" invasion. Lights and sound activate, but Tom is still sleeping. An alarm clock pops out and rings; this wakes the cat up. Tom sees robot-Jerry and calls in robot-Tom, a blue, jet-powered, but still resembling Tom, machine. Tom gives robot-Tom his mission and robot-Tom speeds off.
Jerry sees robot-Tom on the screen and frantically messes with the control panel. Robot-Jerry stops, sniffs, and turns around before robot-Tom can eat him. Both of them speed through the hall. Robot-Tom attempts to eat robot-Jerry again, but robot-Jerry levitates himself into the air. Robot-Tom extends his legs up and tries again, but then robot-Jerry drops himself. Robot-Tom crouches to avoid a large fixture, and then extends himself high to avoid a second one. Robot-Tom lowers himself a tiny bit and grins, but soon runs into an overhang. Robot-Jerry speeds through while robot-Tom is left fuming. Robot-Jerry speeds past and this reactivates robot-Tom, who chases the robot-Jerry again. Jerry pulls a lever and robot-Jerry starts moving at superspeed, leaving robot-Tom astonished. Tom then pulls one of his levers and returns robot-Tom to superspeed. Tom sees robot-Jerry approaching the screen and coming out of the bottom of his computer, and looks at the disappearing machine. He turns his eyes back to the screen to see robot-Tom crashing through the screen and causing destruction in the room. A dazed Tom whacks the still-active head of robot-Tom.
Tom has repaired his computer and the screen shows Jerry victorious, having secured his cheese. Tom suddenly gets an idea and steps into a cylinder-like room. He presses a button, which renders the cat invisible. Tom walks towards Jerry's hole with a space weapon and knocks on the wall. Jerry, however, darts out in a space vehicle and squirts the cat with some kind of ink, turning Tom red and leaving him visible and vulnerable to attack again. Tom tries to shoot the mouse, but Jerry shoots the cat first and then renders him invisible again. Paramedics come out and load the invisible Tom onto a stretcher.
Tom then directs robot-Tom to take care of the mouse. Jerry comes out in his vehicle and before robot-Tom can get the chance to pull the trigger, Jerry shoots through the gun and blackens robot-Tom's head, causing his head and rear to burst out of their sockets. Robot-Tom creeps up behind Tom in anger. Tom sees only the gun in the mirror before he gets shot. Tom takes the weapon and tries to shoot his mechanical counterpart, but the shot comes out the wrong end, hits Tom again, and knocks the cat out. Robot-Tom laughs himself silly.
Jerry is now traveling across the floor in his vehicle, his eyes on a large wheel of cheese on the counter. Tom comes from behind in a magnetic crane and attracts Jerry's vehicle up to a magno-pad. Jerry exits his vehicle in a parachute. Jerry unplugs the crane and then Tom comes out with a hammer, ready to squash the mouse. Jerry then plugs the crane back in and the hammerhead comes off the handle and sticks to the pad, and then he unplugs it and it falls on Tom's head. Tom brims with anger as a bump forms on his head, but then Jerry plugs the crane back in and the head squeezes off the bump and re-attaches itself to the pad. Before Tom can throttle Jerry, the head falls back down on Tom's head. Jerry then plugs it back in, and Tom pleads with the mouse not to follow through, but Jerry unplugs the pad anyway and Tom gets bumped again. Jerry continues to plug and unplug the crane until Tom is seen crushed to the floor, 1/3 of Jerry's height, and crying at the mouse' feet. Jerry lets the cat go, and then shrugs.
A large and complex mathematical-chemical equation is shown on a blackboard and Tom is seen making a large quantity of explosive potion, hoping that it will annihilate Jerry once and for all once installed into the bomb. The camera cuts to Jerry, who sees Tom on his screen, and is compressing the wheel of cheese into a tiny amount of a highly votaile liquid. He fills a projectile with it, flies above Tom in a gunboat, and drops the microbomb into the potions. Tom quizzically points into the vat....and then a big blast happened.
Then the cartoon shifts to what appears to be a stone age scene when Tom who is a cavecat exits out of the cave with a club in hand and comes across Jerry (also dressed like a caveman). Tom, seeing Jerry, is about to club him when Jerry goes and licks it, who then offers some to Tom. As they both lick tom unknowingly licks Jerry and He starts to eat Jerry then Jerry starts to run away from Tom which might be the first cat and mouse chase. Which cause the viewers to believe that the whole cartoon shows the last chase in the future (because the blast must have destroyed the Tom from the future as if it is the final chase between cat and mouse)and first in the cave age of cat and mouse chase
