- Brad Bushman
Brad J. Bushman is a Professor at the
University of Michigan with appointments in psychology, communication studies, and the Institute for Social Research. He has published extensively on the causes and consequences of humanaggression . His work has questioned the utility ofcatharsis , and relates also to violent video game effects on aggression. Along withRoy Baumeister , his work suggests that it is narcissism, not low self-esteem, that causes people to act more aggressively after an insult. Dr. Bushman's research has been featured inNewsweek , on theCBS Evening News , on20/20 , and on National Public Radio. He earned his BS in psychology fromWeber State College (now Weber State University) in 1984 and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 1989 and holds three master's degrees (in psychology, statistics, and secondary education). Since 2005, Dr. Bushman has spent the summers as a visiting professor atVrije Universiteit inAmsterdam ,The Netherlands . Prior to joining the University of Michigan facility, Dr. Bushman was an associate professor atIowa State University . He and his wife have three children.External links
