Reuben Ellwood

Reuben Ellwood (February 21, 1821 - July 1, 1885) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois.

Born in Minden, New York, Ellwood attended the public schools and Cherry Valley Seminary, New York. Manufacturer of agricultural implements.He served as member of the New York State assembly in 1851.He moved to Sycamore, Illinois, about 1854.He resumed manufacturing interests and engaged in the hardware business.

Ellwood was elected as a Republican to the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth Congresses and served from March 4, 1883, until his death, before the assembling of the Forty-ninth Congress, in Sycamore, Illinois, July 1, 1885.He was interred in Elmwood Cemetery.
