June 24 ,1844 -November 28 ,1920 ) was a U.S. Representative fromIowa .Born in
Burlington, Iowa , Hedge attended the common schools and Denmark (Iowa) Academy.He was graduated fromPhillips Academy ,Andover, Massachusetts , in 1861,Yale College in 1867, and Columbia College Law School, New York City, in 1869.He was admitted to the bar in New York in 1869 and commenced practice inBurlington, Iowa .He served as a private during the Civil War in Company E and as second lieutenant in Company G, One Hundred and Sixth Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry, in 1864 and 1865.He resumed the practice of law inBurlington, Iowa .Hedge was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-sixth and to the three succeeding Congresses (
March 4 ,1899 -March 3 ,1907 ).He was not a candidate for renomination in 1906.He resumed the practice of law.He died inBurlington, Iowa ,November 28 ,1920 .He was interred in Aspen Grove Cemetery.References
