Dick Vermillion

Dick Vermillion

Dick Vermillion held statewide office in Kentucky.

In the 1967 statewide elections - when Republican Louie Nunn was elected Governor of Kentucky and Democrat Wendell H. Ford was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky - Vermillion was elected Clerk of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. At the time this was an elected position. (A later amendment to the Kentucky Constitution made the office appointive.)

Vermillion's predecessor (Drexell R. Davis) and successor (Frances Jones Mills) in the office of Clerk of the Court of Appeals both were elected later to both of the statewide offices of Treasurer and Secretary of State. Vermillion, however, never won another statewide election.
