TRECVID

The TRECVID evaluation meetings are on-going series of workshops focusing on a list of different information retrieval (IR) research areas in content based retrieval of video. It is co-sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Intelligence Advanced Projects Activity (IARPA)of the United States Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). The goal of the workshop is to encourage research in information retrieval by providing a large test collection, uniform scoring procedures, and a forum for organizations interested in comparing their results.

Origin

TRECVID was founded in [http://web.archive.org/web/20030204001500/http://www-nlpir.nist.gov/projects/trecvid/ 2003] as an independent evaluation/workshop from TREC. The founding organisers consisted of the coordinators:

* Alan Smeaton (Dublin City University)
* Wessel Kraaij (TNO-ICT)
