Susan Wefald was born in
Michigan and received her Bachelor's degree from theUniversity of Michigan and herMaster of Public Administration degree from theUniversity of North Dakota . She is a licensed social worker, and a former credit counselor. She was a member of theBismarck Public Schools board from 1989 to 1993, and she has been on the Veterans Memorial Library Board of Trustees since 2001. She was appointed to the Public Service Commission in1993 by GovernorEd Schafer to complete the term byDale V. Sandstrom , who resigned. She is the first woman to serve on the state's Public Service Commission. In2002 , Wefald was re-elected to serve a six-year term with the Commission. Wefald has announced that she will not seek re-election in 2008. She currently serves as President of the Commission. She is the wife ofRobert O.
