Susan Wefald (born June 30, 1947) is a North Dakota Republican Party politician who is currently serving as North Dakota Public Service Commissioner.

Biography

Susan Wefald was born in Michigan and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Dakota. She is a licensed social worker, and a former credit counselor. She was a member of the Bismarck Public Schools board from 1989 to 1993, and she has been on the Veterans Memorial Library Board of Trustees since 2001. She was appointed to the Public Service Commission in 1993 by Governor Ed Schafer to complete the term by Dale V. Sandstrom, who resigned. She is the first woman to serve on the state's Public Service Commission. In 2002, Wefald was re-elected to serve a six-year term with the Commission. Wefald has announced that she will not seek re-election in 2008. She currently serves as President of the Commission. She is the wife of Robert O.
