Guy Urban Hardy (
April 4 ,1872 -January 26 ,1947 ) was a U.S. Representative fromColorado .Born in
Abingdon, Illinois , Hardy attended the public schools, Albion Normal College,Albion, Illinois Fact|date=July 2007, andTransylvania University ,Lexington, Kentucky . He taught school in Illinois and Florida 1890-1893. He moved toCanon City, Colorado , in 1894. Later, he served as editor and publisher of the Canon City Daily and Weekly Records, beginning in 1895. He later served asPostmaster of Canon City fromJune 5 ,1900 , toJuly 30 ,1904 . He served as president of the National Editorial Association in 1918 and 1919.Hardy was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and to the six succeeding Congresses (
March 4 ,1919 -March 3 ,1933 ). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1932 to the Seventy-third Congress. He resumed his former publishing pursuits inCanon City, Colorado , and resided there until his death onJanuary 26 ,1947 .He was interred in Greenwood Cemetery.References
