Telangana Freedom struggle
"Main article:"
Telengana Freedom Struggle During 1946-1951, Telangana saw peasant guerilla armed struggle launched under the aegis of the Communist party. Led by Raavi Narayana Reddy, the Andhra Mahasabha had allied itself with the
Communist party which had roots in the Telangana countryside.Meanwhile, the Ittehad-ul-Muslameen decided to oppose the Communist movement. The
Razakar organisation then emanated in the State under the leadership of Khasim Razvi, initiating communal violence. TheNizam was barbaric in his actions and killed thousands of Telangana freedom fighters.Though the Indian Union signed a standstill agreement with Nizam on November 29, 1947, the Nizam was boosting up the army and approached the United Nations, pleading for independence of the State. Then Makhdoom Mohiuddin and Raavi Narayana Reddy two leading Communist figures from Telangana, who were underground, were contacted. Although the Communist ranks were divided on the issue, the deal was struck on 4th May 1943, the Nizam lifted ban on the Communist Party in Hyderabad.
Telangana's Freedom
The Indian union launched a police action on September 13, 1948 and the Indian Army led by Gen. J.N. Choudhary entered the State four days later. The Nizam surrendered and the State entered the main stream of the country with Gen. Choudhary as the military Governor. By 1950-51 the guerilla action had considerably degenerated.
Thus, the freedom movement in Andhra Pradesh was a thrilling saga of patriotic zeal, popular outbursts against alien autocracy, sacrifices and a dedicative approach to free the motherland from alien domination.
Of late, his efforts to rescue the downtrodden and genuine Freedom fighters of
Razakars Movement are bearing fruits but with the Pension schemes to theTelangana martyrs still remains to be under the red tape of Indian Bureaucracy.HISTORY
IN 1934
Gongireddy Raghava Reddy was born on 5th July 1928 in Pemberti village of Warangal district of Telengana region of Andhra Pradesh. Coming from a decent land lord's family, Raghava Reddy lost both his parents Gongireddy Ananta Reddy and Ramachudamma to cholera by age 6.
In 1934, a revolutionary leader, late Sri. Raavi Narayan Reddy, brought this young boy to Vivek Vardhini High School, Hyderabad. On March 9, 1934, Mahatma Gandhi visited this high school where Raavi Narayan Reddy as Secretary of Harijan seva sangh, requested Gandhiji to visit the Harijan Hostel. Gandhiji asked Raavi Narayan Reddy whether any upper caste boys are put up with the Harijan boys. Raavi Narayan Reddy replied by saying, no. Then Gandhiji expressed his displeasure and advised that at least one upper caste boy be lodged along with the Harijan boys in an effort to eradicate "Untouchability".
The choice fell on young Raghava Reddy who was taken to Mahatma, as the token child to be lodged with the 40 Harijan boys. Mahatma put his hand on this young lad, blessed him, and told the gathering "what is preached should be honestly practiced". Raghava Reddy remained the only upper caste boy in the hostel, where he received primary education.
