Brian Walter MJF (Melvin Jones Fellow) is the first Lion to take Lionism to Republic of Maldives in the year 2006, by forming the "Male, Maldives Lions Club". Maldives is the 197th country for the International Association of Lions Clubs, which is the largest and the most active service oriented organization in the world. The objective of the Male, Maldives Lions Club is to serve the down trodden people of the society, with the assistance of Lions Clubs International Foundation and the help of People and the Government of Maldives.
Lion Brian Walter has been a Leo, as well as a Lion of District 306B and presently 306B2 in Sri Lanka and has relentlessly rendered humanitarian services through the movement since 1994. He was a member of the Leo Club of Colombo City from 1994 to 2002, and was a Leo District President of the Leo District Council 306 B, Sri Lanka. In 2002 he was installed as a Lion and became the "Charter President" of the first ever New Century Lions Club in Sri Lanka, "the Lions Club of Colombo Horizon".
In recognition of his services to the movement, the Lions Clubs International awarded him the International President's "Leadership Medal" in the year 2006.
