Georgi Kupreishvili (born May 31 1971) is a Georgian professional tennis coach and former professional tennis player and was part of a united team of the USSR among juniors.

Biography

From 1985 to 1990 George was educated at the Georgian Technical University, obtaining a Diploma of Engineer- Constructor from the faculty of Engineering.Fact|date=June 2008George is fluent in Georgian, Russian, English and speaks a little Arabic.Fact|date=June 2008

Career as a player

Georgi's playing experience began in 1980 and through to 1986 was a member of the national team of Georgia and the Soviet Union youth team. In 1987 he won the Latvian Open Series Tournament and was a member of the USSR team in the Good Will Games. Until injury forced him to permanently retire he had at various times been ranked 1st and 2nd in the USSR.

Career as a coach

Georgi began coaching the national team of Georgia in 1992 until 1994 when he was invited by the Egyptian Tennis Federation to work with its national team becoming coach from 1995- 1999. For the last two years of his time he was travelling coach of the national team and Head Coach of the Egyptian Team at the African Games, working with players such as Mahomed Mammoun (28th ITF ranking) Amani Khalifa (24th) Yomma Farid (top 30) and Moataz Aboulkhair.

In 1999 Georgi began working with the Egyptian Davis Cup player Marwan Zivar moving his ranking in one year from 940 to 570.Fact|date=June 2008

By 2001 he was head coach to the Gezira Sports Club Winning the Egyptian league title.Fact|date=June 2008

He returned to Georgia in 2002 privately coaching two young gifted players.Fact|date=June 2008
