Alan O. Professor Trounson made headlines in 1980 with the first IVF birth in Australia and after set up their own program, the Monash team of Wood, Trounson, Leeton, Talbot and Kovacs. [I.V.F. It was reported in the Melbourne newspaper "The Age" that Trounson misled the AustralianFederal Parliament by attributing the recovery of a crippled rat to stem cells derived from an adult rat, when in fact the cells had come from a fetal rat.
