Kenneth Earl Rice (born September 14, 1939 in Bainbridge, Georgia) was an American football offensive tackle in the American Football League for the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and the Miami Dolphins. He played college football at Auburn University. Born in Atlanta, Georgia...Two-time All-American (1959 & 1960) and three-time All-SEC (1958-1960) at Auburn and a first round draft choice by the NFL's St. Louis Cardinals and AFL's Buffalo Bills...Member of Auburn's 1958 undefeated national championship team...Tigers won 24 games during his three-year varsity career...Selected to the 1957 Freshman All-SEC team...Named the SEC's Most Valuable Offensive Lineman in 1959 and 1960 and Most Valuable Defensive Lineman in 1960...Selected by the Birmingham News in 1970 as Auburn's Offensive Player of the 1960s...Chosen to Auburn's Team of the Century and Team of the Sixties...The Ken Rice Award is presented annually to Auburn's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman...Played for the AFL Buffalo Bills and made the All-AFL team as a rookie in 1961 and was a member of the AFL's first All-Star team...In 1961, he played every offensive play at tackle all season and every defensive play the final six games at defensive end...Pro career included stints with the Oakland Raiders (1964-66) and Miami Dolphins (1966-67)...A 16-letter athlete at Bainbridge High School and four-year starter in football, basketball, baseball and track (in eight events)...Played in the state All-Star game...Led basketball scorers, rebounders as forward-center as junior and senior...Won state shot put title three times and discus crown once...All-State choice three years and track captain for two seasons...Played catcher on the baseball team..."Ken was probably the best lineman ever to come out of Auburn, maybe the best football player ever.
