Vladaya

Vladaya ( _bg. Владая) is a village located in the Vitosha municipality in the southern parts of the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. As of 2006 it has 3,763 inhabitants.

Situated in the northwestern foothills of Vitosha Mountain, the village is a starting point for day-trips to the mountain. There is a monastery "St. Petka" and two monuments. There used to be three quarries which supplied the capital with granite but they are no longer in operation. However, the stone-processing plant is still in work.

Vladaya Saddle on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica is named after Vladaya.
