The name-board in Zilla Parishath High School, Agali, indicates that, before Independence, Agali was part of Old Madras State. However,in spite of major kannada cultural influence, it belongs to Madakasira taluk of Anantapur district now.

The main source of income is through agricultural activities by cultivating crops such as Rice, Groundnuts, Sunflower, Raagi, Chilli, Flowers, Cucumber, Oil seeds, Mulberry, Maiz etc.

The education system is particularly good in Agali mandal.
