Introductory Physical Science
- Introductory Physical Science
Introductory Physical Science (also IPS) is a high school level science education class offered as a preparatory course to physical science.
The course
IPS is, in schools offering the course, a middle or high school course taught as a prequel to chemistry. It is an inquiry-based program developed by Uri Haber-Schaim, Reed Cutting, Graden Kirksey, and Harold Pratt as a means of allowing students to achieve hands-on experience in a laboratory setting and to teach students to "think like scientists". IPS was originally developed under a grant from the National Science Foundation and is currently in its 8th edition. [cite web
