In March 1971 he introduced Rajneesh's work to the West and opened three meditation "houses" in America.

In 1988 he offered the name "Osho" to Rajneesh during creation and preparations for "Friends of Osho" programs. This name was a direct reference made by Rajneesh while giving talks on old Zen traditions in Japan while addressing their master teachers as "friends". "Osho" means "the friend"

In 1990 Osho died. Many of his close disciple including Harideva were "banned" by the two lawyers and a doctor who took control of the Poona commune while trying to turn it into a "meditation business".
