Pat Lytle

Pat Lytle

Pat Lytle is an artist based in Kasilof, Alaska. She specializes in an abstract style of painting and a photo-realistic style of drawing.

Born in Bayshore, New York in 1959, Pat later moved to southern California with her family as a child where she was heavily involved in art throughout high school. Her main focus was in charcoal and she won several awards at student shows in the process. In 1985 she began pursuing a career in horses and later met her husband Terry, to which they moved to Juneau, Alaska together in 1987 and later to their current home of Kasilof, Alaska in 1989. Ten years later, in 1999, Pat returned to her natural talent in art and opened [http://www.offthecanvas.com Off The Canvas] , her art studio. The vast majority of her work was murals and commissioned realistic paintings. She painted a 7' x 14' mural at [http://www.cpgh.org Central Peninsula General Hospital] in Soldotna, Alaska during this period as well a several other various pieces of artwork. Pat decided to enroll in [http://www.kpc.alaska.edu UAA's Kenai Peninsula College] in 2005 in order to go beyond the more realistic style she was familiar with while growing up. Through her KPC instructor, Celia Anderson, she was introduced to the more abstract style of painting that she specializes in today. Pat has competed in several exhibitions throughout her career such as "Small Shots" at the [http://www.kenai.net/finearts/ Kenai Fine Arts Center] in Kenai, Alaska in May of 2006 and 2007, "KPC Student Juried Show" at the Gary L. Freeberg Gallery in Soldotna, Alaska in April of 2006 and 2007, and "Divergent Views" at the [http://www.artskenai.com Kenai Visitors & Cultural Center] in Kenai, Alaska as well as win the Juror's Choice Award at the “No Big Heads Juried Show” in UAA, Anchorage, Alaska in November 2006.
