"Kurumba" was built for the RAN in Britain and was completed on 7 December 1916. She served as part of the Royal Navy's Royal Fleet Auxiliary until 11 March 1919 when she was transferred to the Royal Australian Fleet Auxiliary and arrived in Australia in July. "Kurumba" operated in Australian waters and South-East Asia until being paid off to reserve on 4 June 1928.
