Mark Assini

Mark Assini is a syndicated columnist and former public official from upstate New York.

He is married to Mary Ann and they have two daughters and one son. An accountant by trade, he was a financial analyst for Eastman Kodak, one of Rochester's leading employers, and was also a cost accountant for Pfaudler, Inc. In 1993, he was elected to the Monroe County Legislature, representing a portion of the Rochester suburbs. He became known for his boyish appearance and his strong conservative record. In 2004, he ran for Congress, but lost the Republican primary by a wide margin to Randy Kuhl, a moderate who was supported by the retiring incumbent, Amory Houghton. In 2005, Assini did not seek reelection and entered private life. He is now a syndicated columnist who comments on current issues.
