- Santa Lucía (station)
Santa Lucia, literally in Spanish: "Saint Lucy", is a railway station that comprises the network of the
Santiago Metro ofChile . One is underground, between the stations Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica of the same line. It is located in theAvenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins to the height of the 500, in the commune of Santiago.It presents/displays a regular flow of passengers who are increased in the hours peak of the use of the railroad: in the mornings and the afternoons. The station is in a centric-residential zone.
In the immediate surroundings of the station, is alongside northeast the Santa Lucia Hill of this one. Just in the North exit also it is the
National Library of Chile , building with located National Monument character in the North sidewalk of theAvenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins . The government of
Portugal gave to Metro S.A. in the middle of years 1990 one of the first works of art that adorn the stations. This called work “Azulejos para Santiago” is composed by tiles in diverse blue and white tones.Etymology origin

February 12 of1541 , the conquerorPedro de Valdivia founds, according to the tradition, the city of Santiago in the faldeos of a called hill Huelén by the natives. Valdivia recalled this hill likeCerro Santa Lucia in honor to theSanta Lucia of Siracusa . The station is just in the South faldeo of this hill.
