A broken leg restricted him to three starts in the 1987-88 season. The following season Moulden started the majority of matches, finishing the season as top scorer with 13 goals in 36 league appearances as Manchester City gained promotion to the First Division. However in the close season he was sold to Bournemouth as a makeweight in the deal which took Ian Bishop toMaine Road .Moulden spent just seven months on the south coast, scoring 13 goals in 37 starts for "the Cherries", before moving to Oldham on transfer deadline day. At Oldham he struggled with injuries, starting 19 matches in three years. He then had short spells with a succession clubs, playing for Brighton, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Rochdale before dropping out of League football in 1996.
After retiring from full-time football, he opened a
