Liga I 2007–08

The 2007-08 season of Liga I began on July 27, 2007 and ended on May 7, 2008. CFR Cluj became champions, winning their first trophy and ending a 17-year long reign of Bucharest-based teams.

CFR Cluj will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage, while FC Steaua Bucureşti qualified for the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. FC Rapid Bucureşti, F.C. Dinamo Bucureşti, FC Unirea Voluntari Urziceni and Politehnica 1921 Ştiinţa Timişoara qualified for the UEFA Cup first round. FC Vaslui, Oţelul Galaţi and Gloria Bistriţa are the only teams that have applied [cite news |url=http://www.romaniansoccer.ro/stiri/420/sorti-favorabili-pentru-echipele-romanesti-traseu-facil-in-intertoto.htm |title= Sorti favorabili pentru echipele romanesti: Traseu facil in Intertoto |work= RomanianSoccer.ro | language = Romanian| date= 2008-04-21 |accessdate= 2008-04-23] , with FC Vaslui securing their participation.
