Anthony Vincent Collins

Sir Anthony Vincent Collins (September 3, 1893, Hastings, East Sussex – December 11, 1963, Los Angeles, California) was a British film score composer and conductor. He was nominated for three Academy Awards for best music and original score in three consecutive years (1940-1942) for Nurse Edith Cavell, Irene and Sunny.

He also conducted a series of classical recordings, notably of music of Elgar and Sibelius and composed many major works and lighter pieces, which include the still-popular Vanity Fair. This and numerous other miniatures and suites are to be found on a 2005 CD, featuring John Wilson conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra.
