Adam Mayers

Adam Mayers

Adam Mayers is a journalist with the "Toronto Star", and also a senior editor of the newspaper's website.

He has written four books, two books on the subject of sailing and ocean racing. His first book "Sea of Dreams" was an account of the 2002 Around Alone race. His second book, "Beyond Endurance", is an account of the ill-fated 1979 Fastnet race, in which the 300 or more yachts involved encountered a massive and deadly storm. The book focuses on the Canadian entries in the race.

Mayers is also the author of the 2003 book "Dixie & The Dominion" which looked at Canada's role in the U.S. Civil War. Mayers has been a regular contributor to "Civil War Times Illustrated."

Mayers was born in St. John. N.B., grew up in Toronto and earned a BA and MBA from McMaster University. He did post graduate journalism training at the City University in London, England.
