Cargilfield Preparatory School is a private co-educational prep school in
Edinburgh ,Scotland , Scotland's oldest prep school founded in 1873.It is a day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3-13 and caters for approximately 200 pupils. It is Scotland's principal feeder school to numerous British public schools including
Ampleforth ,Downe House , Eton,Fettes , Glenalmond,Gordonstoun , Harrow, Loretto, Rugby, Shrewsbury,Winchester , and numerous others.Sports at the school include rugby, netball, hockey, skiing and shooting.
Fees are approximately £10,000 - £12,000 per annum.
Former pupils include
Douglas Jamieson, Lord Jamieson , the13th Duke of Argyll , andWilliam Robert Ogilvie-Grant .The Headmaster is John Elder, whose most reported act so far has been to abolish
