Robert J. Kleberg, Sr. (1853 - 1932) was born in Texas and attended the University of Virginia. He served as legal counsel to Richard King and his convert|600000|acre|km2|sing=on King Ranch. When King died, Kleberg took over the management of the ranch. Under his tenure the ranch grew to encompass over convert|1300000|acre|km2. Eventually oil was discovered under much of this cattle country. Kleberg died in 1932.
