Jamie Hornsmith (born 12 February 1977) is an English musician and award winning print artist. He is bass player for the English rock band The Rakes, whose debut album "Capture/Release" reached number 32 in the UK album chart . He currently resides in North West London.

The Rakes

Singer Alan Donohoe approached Hornsmith while they were both attending Brighton University. Hornsmith was studying art at the time, and wanted to pursue a career as an artist, whilst Donohoe "did science",fact|date=March 2008 but was coaxed into joining the band along with guitarist Matthew Swinnerton, with whom he worked in a clothes shop. Hornsmith's trademark style is marked with flat powerfull basslines, a clean tone brought about by his Rickenbacker bass, and octave jumps. He does not use any effects pedals. He's a vegetarian.
