Regional elections

Last regional election

The last regional election, for the renewal of the Regional Council and the President of Sicily, was held on 12-13 June 2004.

The election was competed by two main competitors: Mauro Pili (Forza Italia) for the centre-right and Renato Soru (Sardinia Project) for the centre-left. Soru won with 50.1% against 40.5% of Pili. The combined results of all the regionalist parties was 27.3%.

Provincial elections

Last provincial elections

On 8 May 2005 a provincial election took place in all the Provinces of Sardinia, comprising the newly formed ones. The election saw a big victory for the centre-left, which won seven provinces out of eight.
