Yehudi lights are lamps placed on the underside of an
aircraft to raiseluminance , to disguise the aircraft against the background sky. The technique was successfully employed inWorld War II by RAFShorts Sunderland aircraft in attacks onU-boat s.In 1945 a
Grumman Avenger with Yehudi lights got within convert|3000|yd of aship before being sighted. This ability was rendered obsolete by theradar of the time. Since the development ofstealth technology , Yehudi lights have come under renewed interest.See also
