Julia Peyton Jones

Julia Peyton Jones

Julia Peyton-Jones OBE was appointed Director of the Serpentine Gallery in 1991. She oversaw a major refurbishment of the galleries, and is widely credited with it success over the last 20 years. Peyton-Jones studied painting at the Royal College of Art, but did not continue a career as a professional artist in the early 80s, although two of her works still hang in the Bank of England. She then was curator at the Hayward Gallery before coming to the Serpentine.

In 2003 Julia Peyton Jones was appointed an Officer of the British Empire (OBE).
