Haslam is a surname originating from the British Isles. Haslem and Heslam are both less common variants of the name. The surname is quite common in North West England, especially in and around Bolton, Lancashire.

Etymology

Haslam which means 'dweller under the hazel tree' is a shortening of the name "Hazelham", meaning a village near a hazel tree.
