- Ralph Waller
The Reverend Dr. Ralph Waller is Principal of
Harris Manchester College, Oxford and Director of theFarmington Institute for Christian Studies .Ralph Waller was born in
Lincolnshire and educated at theUniversity of London (BD) and theUniversity of Nottingham (MTh) and completed a PhD at theUniversity of London with a thesis entitled "James Martineau: his emergence as a theologian, his christology and his doctrine of the Church, with some unpublished papers" (1987). He is a Master of Arts of theUniversity of Oxford .He is an ordained minister in the
Methodist Church of Great Britain .He holds honorary doctorates from
Menlo College (DLitt),Uppsala University (DTheol,Ball State University (DHum),Hartwick College (DD 2003), and St Olaf College (DHum).A former
Visitor of Harris Manchester, Sir Tony Wrigley, recommended that an independent adjudicator ought to investigate allegations against Dr Waller concerning "unauthorised payments", although the Governing Body rejected the suggestion. It was later alleged that Dr Waller put pressure on a Harris Manchester graduate to withdraw her support from an open letter addressed to the currentVisitor , Sir Eric Anderson, concerning the college's financial endowment.
