Tekena Tamuno (born 1932) is a Nigerian historian and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. He is currently the president of the board of trustees of Bells University.

Education and Career

He went to St Peter's School in his hometown of Okrika for primary education. After completing his primary education, he attended Okrika Grammar School. From 1953-1958, he studied history at the University of Ibadan before leaving the country in 1960 to continue his studies at Birkbeck, University of London and Columbia University. In 1962, he joined the Department of History at the University of Ibadan. He has 4 children(Ene Tamuno, Ibirobo Adekola ,Alali Tamuno and Boma Tamuno) and also has 4 grandchildren(Temitope Adekola, Arinade Adekola,Abimbola Owolabi and Femi Owolabi)

In addition to his administrative and teaching career, he has written a few books and chaired some public service commissions.
