He went to
St Peter 's School in his hometown of Okrika forprimary education . After completing his primary education, he attended Okrika Grammar School. From1953 -1958 , he studied history at the University of Ibadan before leaving the country in 1960 to continue his studies atBirkbeck, University of London andColumbia University . In 1962, he joined the Department of History at the University of Ibadan. He has 4 children(Ene Tamuno, Ibirobo Adekola ,Alali Tamuno and Boma Tamuno) and also has 4 grandchildren(Temitope Adekola, Arinade Adekola,Abimbola Owolabi and Femi Owolabi)In addition to his
