AST Records

AST Records

AST Records is a stand-up comedy record label started by Matt Belknap (aka "Sasquatch"), creator of aspecialthing.com [http://www.aspecialthing.com] , an internet message board especially popular with west coast comedy fans. Through his website and subsequent podcast (AST Radio), Belknap interviewed and befriended numerous popular comedians, mostly from the LA scene.

Using the site as a launching pad, in late 2006 he announced to the web community he would be starting his own record label, ASpecialThing Records, with long-time site member and friend Ryan McManemin serving as co-founder. In February of the following year, comedian Jen Kirkman's "Self Help" was the first album released on the new label to great praise among "ASTers" as well as other comedy-related websites.

In addition to original recordings, AST Records's online store also sells items previously released by the artists themselves. There are also products from Never Not Funny, a podcast hosted by comedian Jimmy Pardo which Belknap also contributes to.
