Arthur Haliburton, 1st Baron Haliburton

Arthur Lawrence Haliburton, 1st Baron Haliburton GCB DL (26 December 1832 - 21 April 1907) was a British civil servant.

He was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Thomas Chandler Haliburton and Louisa Neville.

He graduated from the University of King's College, Nova Scotia, with a Doctor of Civil Law (DCL).

He was Director of Supplies and Transport at the War Office from 1878-1888, Assistant Under-Secretary of State for War from 1888-1895.. He was Under-Secretary at the War Office from 1895-1897.

Haliburton held the offices of Deputy Lieutenant of London, and Justice of the Peace. He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (CB) in 1880, Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (KCB) in 1885, Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (GCB) in 1897.

Baron Haliburton of Windsor was a title created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom on 13 June 1898 for Arthur Haliburton, on whose death on 21 April 1907 in Bournemouth, the barony became extinct.

He married Mariana Emily Schuster (daughter of Leo Frank Schuster) on 3 November 1877. She had been married to Sir William Dickason Clay from 1855 until his death in 1876. They had no issue.

He died on 21 April 1907 at Branksome Towers Hotel, Bournemouth, Dorset, and is buried in Brompton Cemetery, London.
