Public email addresses are email addresses which are shared by a group such as a neighborhood, a school, or some people with a shared interest. They can be implemented using any email system such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or an ISP email service.

How to create a public email address:

#Make a new email account with any email system
#Add the email account's password to the "signature" of the email account.
#Add the URL of this Wikipedia article to the signature. The URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_email_address

Advantages of public email addresses:

*Gives a persona and an inbox to any concept or group
*Allows for pseudoanonymous communication
*Encourages participation within a shared environment

Disadvantages of public email addresses:

*Susceptible to vandalism
*May violate the Terms of Use of some email systems
