Jim Ballantyne

Jim Ballantyne is the current chairman of Scottish association football team Airdrie United. Ballantyne has been chairman since the club's inception in 2002 when he bought out Clydebank and this allowed Airdrie United to take their place in the Scottish Second Division. The motivation behind the move was to create a replacement team for Airdrieonians who had gone out of business the same year due to crippling debts. He had first attempted to gain entry to the Scottish Football League with the team of Airdrie United by applying for the club to fill the void created when Airdrieonians closed. However, Gretna were instead accepted.
