He has played in the ruck and as a key forward for Port. He has also played as a defender for his former SANFL club Glenelg. His current SANFL club is West Adelaide, having moved there in April 2007 to seek more opportunities to play in a forward role. In 2007 Willits was delisted by Port Adelaide, before being relisted by Port as a rookie.
