JALUR GEMILANG 2 is a solo expedition by Shamsurrijal Bin Abdul Jamil.
This solo expedition to explore the world using a
Proton Satria Gti (1.8l) with the code name Jalur Gemilang II to express the love and the pride of the country. The vehicle has been decorated with strips of red and white that symbolic the flag ofMalaysia ,Jalur Gemilang . The registration number of the vehicle is MAS 2001 (MAS = Malaysian Achievement Spirit)Vehicle Equipment
The MAS 2001 is equipped with the state of the art communication and satellite positioning system. A laptop is linked via satellite Inmarsat C and D+ pending on location. The exact GPS position of the car will be available to the driver in the event of the driver going off course. Apart from the GPS system, the car is also equipped with GPDSS (Global Marine Distress and Safety System) that will provide SMS (Short Messaging Service) between the driver and the control centre in
Johor Bahru ,Malaysia . Internet connection is also available via satellite in the car linked with ISP registered inMalaysia . A satellite phone using Imarsat F04 is available in case of an emergency or to send a voice data to the electronic media. In the unlikely event of the driver needing medical advice or treatment, he would send an SMS or e-mail to Unit Kecemasan Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for advice or medical prescription to allow him to obtain the medicine from any local pharmacy.Vehicle Technology and System
The vehicle being used is the
Proton Satria Gti 1.8l Manual. No modification to the chassis or engine has been done. TheProton Satria Gti was chosen as the car because it has been build with stringent international safety guidelines, and the production of a local car maker to promote Malaysian product to international market.With the emphasis of safe driving, the driver is only allowed to drive during good weather and day time. He is also only allowed a maximum of 8 hours of driving in a day. Inspection, maintenance and servicing of the vehicle is only done by certified manufacturer branches, workshop recommended by the Malaysian Embassy.
A digital video camera has been install on top of the dashboard to send video footage via satellite back to Malaysia.
Overall, the vehicle's electronic equipments are supported by the in-car battery.
