Biography

Peter Napolitano was born and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He was the firstborn and oldest son of Bonanno crime family capo Dominick Napolitano. His brothers, Aniello Napolitano born in 1960, and Rocco Napolitano would like Peter, follow in the footsteps of their father Dominick, but align themselves as associates of the Gambino crime family centered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and work under the capo Andrew Ruggiano. Peter was named after the Apostle Saint Peter. His nickname "Pete the Nap" is a derived from being a condensed version of "Peter the Nap (Napolitano)". Peter closely resembled his father Dominick in his face. Peter was a short, thin and lanky man who was not physically threatening in appearance with a head of frizzy black hair. His father was neglectful of Peter and his brothers Aniello and Rocco, as Joseph Pistone would comment that "Sonny had more respect for his messenger pigeons than his own children". Peter became estranged from his brothers Aniello Napolitano and Rocco who eventually left New York City and headed to Miami, Florida, for unknown reasons Peter stayed behind. Afterwards, this proved to be a stroke of luck, as his brother Aniello was viciously dismembered, his brother Rocco would shortly afterwards be sent to prison for the murder of his brother's alleged killer Frank Abbandando Jr. Peter was already a convicted and recognized member of organized crime when he joined Franzese's crew in 1982. Peter, following in the footsteps of his father, joined the La Cosa Nostra but aligned himself with the Colombo crime family and work under Colombo crime family capo Michael Franzese in 1982. His capo would later say that Peter was very loyal and would have killed on his order. He was a constant companion of Frazese catering to his every wish and desire. Peter Napolitano was a close companion and trusted bodyguard of Michael Franzese of the Colombo crime family. He was an ex-convict of New York City and heavily involved in organized crime as a minor figure. Peter was a womanizing bachelor who attempted to seduce Michael Franzese's future wife, Camille Garcia at the New York City night club "Shooters". Michael told Peter to leave his intended date alone and he left. Peter never succeeded in the La Cosa Nostra as his father Dominick Napolitano had. He died on June 29, 1994. He is survived by his mother and brother, Rocco Napolitano.
