John Mundy (presenter)

John Mundy born in Manchester, England is a British television presenter and voice-over artist [ [http://www.johnmundy.co.uk/ John Mundy website] ] .

He anchored the regional news programme BBC North West Tonight [ [http://www2.tv-ark.org.uk/bbc_northwest/news.html TVark screenshots and history of North West Tonight] ] .and its previous incarnations from the early 1980s until 1993. He started in 'the business' first, as a stage-hand at the Opera House in Manchester, then as an actor at Oldham Colisseum Theatre. His television career began with a live 'on-air' audition as a continuity announcer for Tyne Tees TV. He also announced for HTV (forerunner of ITV Wales and West). He is probably best known for his many years working alongside Stuart Hall as co-presenter of the BBC local news programme "Look North West" which, in 1984, became "North West Tonight".

However, during this period with the BBC (and largely unknown to the BBC or public) he was running a parallel career as a highly successful voice-over artist.

In 1993, he took a career break and went to live in the USA. For the next six years, he was involved in property development which included the ownership and operation of two hotels in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

In 1999, he returned to live in the UK and resumed his career as a voice-over artist.
