:"Not to be confused with the Battle of Sandwich (1460)."The Battle of Sandwich was a medieval naval battle in 1217, during the First Barons' War. It was an immediate follow-on to the Battle of Dover between the French navy under Eustace the Monk and the English navy under Hubert de Burgh. It was an English victory and lost Eustace his life.
