Even though he didn't possess the ability to run and throw, like former great
Major Harris and current starter Patrick White, Johnston is high on many career passing lists in West Virginia record books. Johnston has the second most career passing yards in school history, behindMarc Bulger , with 5,954 yards. Johnston also has the fourth most career touchdown passes, fourth most career pass completions, and third most career pass attempts in school history.
