Shute is a village located convert|3|mi|km|0 west of Axminster in East Devon, off the A35 road.

It is surrounded by farmland and woodland beneath 163-metre Shute Hill. St Michael's Church dates from the 13th Century and includes a large memorial to Sir Wiliam Pole. Another member of the dynasty Margaret Pole is commemorated with a 19th-century alabaster sculptured panel depicting her greeting her daughters at the gates of heaven. The Pole Family Manor House Shute Barton is a National Trust property.

The West of England Main Line passes through Seaton Junction to the south of the village.
